I was feeling particularly spontaneous and creative one night, so on a whim, I decided to make this poster. My goal: to encourage others to take positive action in their lives, and make a difference in the world- as even the seemingly smallest difference can create a ripple affect, and the possibilities are limitless! The above poster is my own design and artwork. (I had seen something like it online but the goals are my own choice of words, as is the saying at the top.) From right to left, the removable tabs say the following: 1) "Do a random act of kindness" 2) "Plant a flower, or a tree" 3) Go someplace you've never gone before 4) Do something you're scared of that will improve your life" 5) "Call an old friend" 6) "Do something for the environment" 7) "Help someone in need" and 8) "Say hello to a stranger".
Once the poster was done, I brought it to the local coffee shop that is within walking distance from me, and tacked it to their flyer wall. Over the next week or so, I would check on the poster to see if any of the 'missions' were taken- and, lo and behold, some began to disappear!
This was a greater turnout than I had expected! Eventually it was removed to pave the way for new posters. Recently I made a new one. It looks like this:
From right to left, the choices are as follows: 1) "Read a new book" 2) "Explore someplace new!" 3) "Go for a walk/run/jog" 4) "Eat a Health Snack" 5) "Gve a Friend a Hug" 6) "Play Outside" 7) "Hug a Tree" 8) "See an Old Friend" and 9) "Meditate". So far, none have been taken yet.
My challenge to readers here: if you are so inclined, chose one, and go with it! (Or, you might even wish to make your own!) I'd love for you to report back and let me know how any of these ideas- all of which are as old as the sun- have helped you on your journeys. I am here in part to make the world a better place, and this is just one of the many ways that I plan to do- and am already doing- my part to do just that!
Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far. Blessings, and Namaste :)
